Paige (Burnett) Engle

Paige (Burnett) Engle, Class of 2011, is a writer, speaker, and part-time marketing specialist living in Liverpool, Pennsylvania.

She graduated in 2014 from Southern Adventist University with a B.S. in Public Relations and married Spencer Engle, class of 2011, the same year.

They share two children, Ellie and Kelson, and attend Shermans Dale Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoys reading, numerous artistic hobbies, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles.


Kenneth L. Schander

Born into a pastor’s family in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in September, 1948, Ken Schander has lived in South Dakota, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Ontario, Canada. As an ordained Seventh-day Adventist pastor himself, he lived and served as an intern in Pittsburgh, PA., followed by pastorates in Butler, Leechburg, & New Brighton, PA; Saskatoon, SK; Halifax, NS; Niles, MI; Toronto, ON, and Victoria, BC.

Following two years as a Blue Mountain Academy student, Ken graduated in 1966. Four years later, including a year studying abroad at Newbold College (Berks., England) he completed a B.A. (History) from Columbia Union College in 1970. In l975, Ken graduated from Andrews University Theological Seminary with a M.Div., followed by a D.Min. in 1994.

After 43 years of ministry, in 2015 Ken retired to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL), Ontario, where he lives with his wife Frances (Lowry) and is closer to their daughter Heather, who lives in Toronto and visits often.

In addition to preaching, mentoring, and assisting in SDA churches in the area, Ken devotes time to volunteering “outside the church.”  He is currently active in NOTL’s Rotary Club, is a volunteer gardener at the NOTL Museum, and regularly helps serve breakfast to the homeless in St. Catharines. A dedicated cyclist, he enjoys a daily “spin around town” and beyond. 


Jim Aumack

Jim lives in McDonald, TN close to his mom Diana and his two daughters and sons in law (Morgan & Alex and Whitney & Nevin). Jim has worked as a recruiter for Southern Adventist University and spent most of his career as national sales manager for Kellogg’s managing the Worthington and Loma Linda business. Now he works for Rich Aguilera and his ministry called One Mustard Seed.


Duane Ferguson

Duane Ferguson graduated from Blue Mountain Academy as part of the first four-year graduating class of 1959.  After pastoring for 8 years in the Pennsylvania and Carolina Conferences, and working another 8 years at Indiana and Ozark Academies, he returned to BMA and served as part of the faculty for 35 years:  from 1979-2009 as a full time faculty, and then as part time faculty from 2009-2014.  His first wife Elanie, passed away in 2016, and he is remarried and currently living in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

Blue Mountain Academy Alumni Weekend will be held April 24, 25 & 26, 2026, celebrating Alumni from Lake Ariel and Philadelphia Academies, 1956* and BMA’s honor classes 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2021 and 2025.
